FAQ

How many cloth diapers should I buy?
This comes down to two things you should consider:

How often do you want to do laundry?
How long would you like your diapers to last?
Infants can go through 12 – 18 diapers a day, and so with that amount you will be doing laundry daily. If you would like to spend less time in front of the washing machine, consider getting 24, even up to 36, which will then allow you to go a few days without having to do laundry. Doing this will also allow the diapers to last longer, since washing them every day will wear them out faster than washing them every 2 or 3 days. Keep in mind that you should be sure to wash them at least every 3 days.

Are inserts included in your diapers?
Yes, every diaper comes with one insert. We do, however, suggest buying a couple additional inserts to boost absorbency at night and for heavy wetters.

Where do I store soiled cloth diapers before washing them?
Storing the diapers in a plastic pail with a lid works just great! Keep in mind that you may want to take the inserts out the diapers before storing them in the pail, as you really don’t want to be doing that once they’ve been sitting on top of each other for a day or two! Rinsing the diapers before storing them in the pail is a good habit to get into, because it will keep the smell under control and help prevent against stains. Some even use a sprinkle of baking soda in the pail. Rinse the pail out with soap each time you empty it is also a great way to keep the stinkyness at bay :) When you are away from home and using cloth, you will want to store your cloth diapers in a wet bag until you get home.

Will the cloth diapers leak?
The short answer: no. Cloth diapers should not leak. In order to allow for maximum absorbency with your Jungle Roo Cloth Diapers, you will need to wash them 3 – 4 times. Also keep in mind that cloth diapers should be changed every 2 – 3 hours. Keeping cloth diapers on your child for a much longer period than this may also result in leakage. Also keep in mind that you will need to ensure that you’ve sized the diaper correctly on your child with the handy size adjustable snaps. Sizing too loose may also result in leakage.

How do I deal with solid waste/poop in the cloth diaper?
This can always be a fun challenge! If the solid waste is not very solid, and is actually more runny, we recommend simply rinsing off the diaper in the sink before removing the insert and storing the diaper and insert in a pail before washing. If, however, the solid waste is more solid, we recommend first scraping the solid waste off the diaper into the toilet, and then rinsing any remaining solid waste in the sink. Flushable liners can also be used to make this process a little easier. However, flushable liners also cause prolonged exposure to moisture on your child’s skin, which may result in irritation or rashes.

How do I use your diapers?
If the diaper has solid waste in it, you would remove the insert, dump the waste in the toilet, spray it off with a sprayer, or dunk in the toilet, and then put the shell in the pail along with the insert.  If it is just soiled with urine then you would just take the insert out and place both the shell and insert in your diaper pail.  After washing your diapers you would simply just stuff the insert back into the pocket and put it on baby!  It really is that easy!  Pocket diapers are great because once stuffed, they are as easy as disposables, making them Daddy and daycare friendly!

What sizes do the diapers come in?
Our cloth diapers are conveniently one-size-fits-most, with snap adjusted sizing around the waist and the legs. This range of sizing allows for fitting from 9 to 30 pounds…pretty much from infancy to potty training! Keep in mind that every child is different, and so sizing may differ from one child to the next.

What are your diapers made of?
The exterior of our diapers is made of a 100% polyester knit with a thin, flexible water-proof polyurethane laminate on the inside (PUL). This hidden waterproof film keeps moisture from leaking out, yet still allows air flow to your baby’s skin, and allows the fabric to feel nice and soft on the outside. Inside, our diapers are lined with soft fleece, which is gentle against your baby’s skin and feels dry since moisture is pulled through into the pocket by the microfiber inserts. Each diaper comes with a super-absorbant insert that is made from 3 layers of microfiber terry-cloth.

What type of detergent should I use?
It is recommended that you use detergents that are free from any dyes, perfumes, and fabric softeners. Many of these components of detergents build up in the cloth diapers and inserts, which results in order build-up. You should also never use bleach on your cloth diapers.

Can I use cloth diapers when away from home?
Absolutely! If you plan to be away from home for an extended period of time, just make sure you pack enough extra cloth diapers, or add an extra insert to the diaper before going for extra protection. Wondering where to store your used diapers after. Roll the diaper up, and snap it shut. Place the diaper(s) in the Wet Bag  and deal with it when you get home.

What are Wet Bags used for?
We bags are great for storing clean and used cloth diapers but that is not where it ends.Wet bags are also great for storing messy snack, sippy cups and cutlery. They are used to store swim gear, dirty bibs, cloths, and clothes. Some parents use them for storing shampoo and other products, while others use it for storing cleaning chemicals. It really is a multi-purpose bag.
